At Least Razorbacks Make Top 100 List for Freshman Starters
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — It was interesting to see the projected possible freshmen around the country expected to have an impact this season. Arkansas got one, but they will need more on a team needing some folks to step up on offense.
The list was compiled by Chris Hummer at 247Sports.com and Razorbacks' freshman Luke Hasz getting on the top list of 100 freshmen around the country expected to make an impact this season. Back in the spring he was looking like a starter, but after North Texas tight end Var-Keyes Gumm finally finished changing his mind about things. If nothing else, he will challenge.
Everything thinks new offensive coordinator Dan Enos is going to be using a lot of two-tight end sets, but Hasz is actually made for more of an H-back role, which is something a lot of teams don't really utilize these days with one-back offenses behind the quarterback.
Anywhere else, the guess here is it will probably be in the defensive secondary. Those spots need all the help they can get and playing time may be available in bunches with everybody gone from last season. The one coming back, Quincy McAdoo, had an auto accident and is expected to miss the entire season from his injuries in the crash.
The offense has quarterback KJ Jefferson along with running backs Raheim "Rocket" Sanders and AJ Green with Rashad Dubinion behind them with a lot of question marks at wide receiver to go with hope, but no real clear No. 1.
In the offense line, there are a couple of returning starters, but a lot of question marks. The same holds true all over the defensive side. None of that's a negative, it's simply a question mark until they do something for the Hogs in an SEC game (the others really don't matter).
In a year with a favorable non-conference schedule, they have three games to find out what they've got and jump into a front-end loaded SEC schedule in the final year before facing an Oklahoma State team that has been consistently in the Top 25 the last few years in a little more difficult 2024 non-conference schedule with Texas and Oklahoma if they are on the Hogs' schedule to be announced Wednesday night.
