Razorbacks Really Didn't Have Selling Points for Alabama Receiver
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — It didn't take Isaiah Bond long to find a new home after announcing he was leaving Alabama. Of course, Arkansas fans probably will think he should have made a better choice than Texas, but it's not really a bad fit for him if you can remove the blinders for a minute.
All Razorbacks coach Sam Pittman could really do is sit back and watch. He didn't have a whole lot to offer. Bond was looking for a way to increase his position in the NFL Draft. Hogs' fans will holler about Bobby Petrino, but that might not be the case in the first year of putting in his system.
Bond knows he's got to have somebody get him the ball. The Longhorns have Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning behind him. Reports we're hearing out of Austin are that he is developing rapidly and picking up the college game well.
Texas' two-deep at quarterback is better than Arkansas. Nobody really wants to hear that, but it's the truth right now. Maybe everybody can break away and have a big year to alter that statement, but it's true right now, which is what counts the most.
The Razorbacks didn't have a lot of selling points and may not have wanted to waste their time. Only the folks over at the football center know if there was any effort made to see if they had a shot. One thing it does, though, is add another brick into what Steve Sarkisian is building with the Longhorns.
When they come rolling into Fayetteville on Nov. 16, there is no telling what all is going to be at stake in that game. The Hogs probably will be gasping for air to get a shot at any bowl game. Texas is hoping they are angling for positioning in the expanded college football playoffs.
