Need for Speed: Hogs Newcomer Considered Fastest Player in Country
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas newcomer Jordan Anthony is one of the fastest college athletes in the country, according to 247sports. The Razorbacks are in need of plenty of speed and that’s exactly what the Texas A&M transfer brings.
Although he caught three passes for 14 yards as a sophomore, the speedy wide receiver has burned the rubber of the New Mexico track during his Razorback debut over the weekend. His 6.62 60-meter dash ranks third in school history.
“If anybody is thinking I didn’t do what they thought I would do, just watch," Anthony said after the sprint. "This is just the beginning. Just watch, and enjoy the show. It will pick up.”
Anthony was a four-star athlete when he signed with Kentucky as a member of the 2022 class. He never saw the field with the Wildcats before transferring to the Aggies during the 2023 offseason.
Arkansas will be in sort of a transition state offensively over the next few months as Bobby Petrino implements his scheme. Anthony’s prior relationship with Petrino helped solidify his decision to become a Razorback.
"[Arkansas] is a great program overall, Anthony said following his commitment. “The relationship I have with Petrino is great!"
His short range explosiveness will bring value to an offense which lacked in playmaking in 2023. Arkansas finished the season with 30 plays of 20+ yards, ranking No. 109 and worst in the SEC.
