FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas continues to prioritize two separate positions for next years roster. Without a lack of quality post players and long wings, the Razorbacks struggled at times to rebound and show grit throughout games.

Here are the six players Arkansas contacted Tuesday. Student-athletes have until May 1 to enter the transfer portal but can commit to a new school at any time.

KYLEN MILTON, Pine Bluff
GUARD

Arkansas-Pine Bluff guard Kylen Milton has fielded quite a few phone calls since entering the portal.

Arkansas, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Auburn, Missouri, Stephen F. Austin, Murray State, Abilene Christian, Louisiana Tech and High Point.

He averaged 17 points, seven rebounds, three assists and just over one steal per game last season with the Golden Lions. The rising fifth-year senior shot 51% from the floor, 35% from three and 74% at the line.

Milton began his career playing with Western Kentucky in 2020-21. The Monticello native has solid size for a guard at 6-foot-4, 190 pounds and limited turnovers this season with a career low 2.1 per game.

JA'KOBI GILLESPIE, Belmont
GUARD

Virginia Tech, Maryland, Indiana, Memphis, California, Alabama, Kansas, Kansas State, UCLA, SMU, Arkansas, Minnesota, Florida, Mississippi State and Georgia

He was a stat sheet stuffer for the Bears averaging 17 points, four assists, four rebounds and two steals per game. The sophomore was extremely effective from the field shooting 56%, 38% from three and 83% at the line.

The Greenville, Tennessee native stands 6-foot, 175 pounds. He was awarded with All-Missouri Valley Conference. Gillespie played in 25 games and scored double figures in 24.

Who Did Arkansas Contact On Day One Of Transfer Portal Season?

He shot 42% from the field and 37% from three this season. He’s heard from the likes of North Carolina, South Carolina, Arkansas, Clemson, Pitt, St. John’s, Miami, Notre Dame and Seton Hall.

DAVION SYKES, Texas State
SMALL FORWARD

Texas State transfer forward Davion Sykes has already heard from the likes of Arkansas, Ole Miss, Temple, North Texas, Cal State Fullerton, Liberty, Columbia, and UC-Riverside.

The 6-foot-5, 185 pound small forward averaged 11 points, seven rebounds, one assist and one steal this season. Sykes was 3-star recruit out of Duncanville, Texas High School during the 2022 cycle. He had offers from UT-Arlington, Colorado State, San Diego and Texas State. During his high school career, Sykes helped his Duncanville team win four consecutive state championships.

BRANDON LOVE, Texas State
FORWARD

Another Texas State player to be contacted by Arkansas is junior Brandon Love. He averaged 10 points, five rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game this season for the Bobcats. The 6-foot-9, 208 pound forward has spent his first three seasons in San Marcos, Texas.

Love was an unknown in the college basketball world during his recruitment. Texas State was the only division one program to offer the Houston native. He connected on 56% of field goal attempts but has struggled from the charity stripe making only 49% of his free throws. Memphis, Texas A&M and Ole Miss are other prominent programs recruiting Love in the portal.

KANAAN CARLYLE, Stanford
GUARD

After Stanford parted ways with Jerod Haase, it was expected to see quite a few players transfer out. One of them was guard Kanaan Carlyle. The 6-foot-3 freshman from Atlanta averaged 12 points, three rebounds and three assists this season.

Carlyle is considered the No. 3 transfer currently in the portal and No. 1 combo guard, per 247sports. He was a consistent shooter for the Cardinal this season connecting on 38% of his field goals, 32% from three and 76% at the free throw line. The Georgia native has also heard from Indiana, Gonzaga, Baylor, Georgia, Oklahoma, Georgia Tech and Arkansas.
