FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Don't expect a lot of comments anytime soon from anybody at Arkansas on what a federal court did Friday. If the injunction issued, prohibits doing anything that violates the last remaining rule on enforcement by the NCAA on stopping name, image, likeness.

Assuming it holds up on appeal, the kangaroo court in Indianapolis that tries to ride herd on big-time college athletics will be reduced to a party-planner for their what tournaments they control. That doesn't include football. The BCS took that away in 1998 and the CFP removed any doubt in 2014.

It's that order in the last paragraph of the conclusion that makes it pretty clear. They are claiming the moral high ground, apparently not understanding there are laws all over the place that stomp all of any of that for years. The NCAA knows what's coming if this injunction holds up to any appeals. It's the only hope they can cling to these days.

""We're finally getting to the point where you're seeing real student athlete empowerment at the collegiate level," Miyares told ESPN in a phone interview late Friday. "The NCAA in an arbitrary and capricious manner was trying to restrict that."

Basically what it means is nobody can enforce any NIL collectives making offers to players before they get to campus. The court said there's no way to determine when eligibility begins and ends. Players can now negotiate deals with third-party collectives on their own and nobody can apparently do a whole lot to stop it.

How the Razorbacks keep up in this new world will be interesting. There is absolutely no question some folks in Arkansas have the money to go wild offering money to get a championship-level group of players. Now if they are big enough fans is the key there. Or how much they think they can buy their way into controlling how much influence they can buy. Join the crowd speculating on that one.
