Auburn Recruiting: Tigers Land Big-Time Offensive Tackle
The Auburn recruiting machine keeps on rolling!
The latest commitment comes from the Peach State and that's not a surprise. The state of Georgia has long since been known to produce top offensive linemen for the Tigers. An example, 2023 freshman Connor Lew came away with elite grades from Pro Football Focus after stepping in for an injured Avery Jones. Lew came to Auburn from Kennesaw (Ga.) Kennesaw Mountain.
The Tigers were also able to nab 2024 offensive tackle recruit Favour Edwin from McDonough (Ga.) Eagle's Landing Christian Academy. Auburn offensive line coach Jake Thornton has high hopes for him. The same goes for Auburn's latest offensive line recruit from Georgia.
Tavaris Dice will be coming to Auburn from Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes. He's a Rivals 4-star recruit and the 36th-ranked player from talent-rich Georgia. Seeing Dice on film, it's no surprise.
Playing left tackle for Langston Hughes, Dice has tremendous knee-bending ability, stays low, and overpowers his opponents. The 6-foot-6 and 290-pound Auburn recruit is just as adept in pass protection as he is with run blocking, too. That's rare. Most high school offensive lineman are far superior with run blocking at this stage of their development. Those qualities are why Auburn is winning a national recruiting battle.
Beyond Auburn, some of Dice's offers include programs like Georgia, Florida, LSU, Tennessee, Arkansas, Kentucky, Texas A&M, South Carolina, Missouri, Miami, Louisville, North Carolina State, Duke, Southern California, Maryland, and West Virginia.
Not only is Dice a highly-coveted recruiting victory for Auburn, but he's also a prospect at arguably the most important position for the Tigers. for the better part of a decade, Auburn's offensive tackle recruiting has often lacked numbers and elite talent. That trend is fortunately trending in the other direction with Edwin, and now two more talented recruits.
Dice joins Athens (Ala.) High School's Spencer Dowland to be the second offensive tackle in the 2025 recruiting class. Look for the Tigers to continue to seek out elite offensive tackles within this cycle. It's a tremendous year for offensive line recruits down South and nationally.
