Auburn beats SE Louisiana 7-1 in the series opener
Auburn defeated Southeastern Louisiana 7-1 to take game one of the series.
Cole Foster had a big night going 4-5 with four rbi's and scoring twice.
He hit a three-run homer that really broke this thing open in the sixth inning.
All the pitchers looked great in this ball game, especially Tanner Bauman and John Armstrong.
The Tigers will be back in action Saturday at 2 pm ct, with the second game of the doubleheader following 45 minutes later.

Ninth Inning Auburn leads 7-1
Armstrong is back out to try and shut the door.

That was a questionable call there as it seemed evident the batter swung.

Interesting note: When Armstrong gets three straight grounds outs you know his stuff is working.

Stanfield absolutely crushes a triple to lead things off.

Dyal rips one right at the first baseman for the first out of the inning. Stanfield was unable to score.
LaRue pops out to the short stop for the second out of the inning. Stanfield is still standing at third.
Green will try and score Stanfield with two down.

Trevor Horne is on to pitch for the Tigers in the sixth.
Horne issues a walk and the lead off base runner is on for the Lions.

Interesting note: I talked about in my series preview this Lion team walks and gets hit by pitches at a very high rate. The Auburn pitching staff will have to fill up the strike zone.
A weird play just occurred. A soft liner to Foster is dropped "it seemed like on purpose". Then Foster threw to second for the out and Green tagged the runner heading to second. The runner who was already out. So a sure fire double play turns into men on the corners with two outs for the Lions.

Interesting note: Heck of a job by Bauman to have the awareness to get the runner at third. That saved a run for the Tigers in the first.

Scouting the Lions
Southeastern enters the weekend with a 9-4 overall record, coming off a midweek win at Alabama A&M after a series loss at Jacksonville last week.
The Lions lead the country in hit by pitches (56) and rank top 10 in the country in stolen bases (47), on-base percentage (.458) and walks (92).
Fifth-year outfield Tyler Finke leads the team with a .375 average and ranks third in the country with 15 stolen bases. He tied the program record for stolen bases this week.
On the mound, the Lions have turned in three shutouts this season, good for the second most in the country, and have posted a 4.55 ERA in 110.2 innings.
