Auburn basketball has a new transfer portal target in Jaylon Tyson
Auburn has found its newest transfer portal target, according to Jeffrey Lee of Auburn Live ($).
Tyson would be another perfect fit for what the Tigers need in the transfer portal.
He started his career at Texas after being a four-star recruit in the class of 2020 but then moved on to Lubbock to play for Texas Tech.
Let's take a look at Tyson's 2022-23 stats.
10.7 ppg/ 6.1 reb/ 1.3 ast/ 48.3% fg/ 40.2% 3pt/ 0.4 blk/ 1.4 stl
The 40.2% from three is what stands out to me. He doesn't shoot a ton of threes Tyson is just very efficient when he chooses to let one fly. He reminds me of Jaylin Williams in that way.
A typical stat line from deep from Tyson would be 2-3, 1-3, 2-4, 3-5, etc. He won't shoot it a million times from deep, especially if he isn't making them.
Although Tyson is a 40.2% deep threat, he is not a one-dimensional player. He can get to the wrack and score and also has a beautiful pull-up jump shot.
Tyson also plays hard on the defensive side of things and has active hands, as shown by his 1.4 steals per game last season.
To sum up my thoughts on Tyson, he is a well-rounded player. Tyson can shoot, hit from deep, get to the hole, and works hard on defense. That is precisely the type of player Auburn needs in the portal.
This is definitely going to be a recruitment to keep an eye on as the Tigers try to fill their scholarship limit.
