Chaney Johnson is an Auburn Tiger after transferring from UAH
Auburn has landed Chaney Johnson in the transfer portal from The University of Alabama in Huntsville (D2).
Johnson is a high-flying six-foot-seven guard that can float in the air. He is a flexible player who can play the shooting guard and small forward positions.
He was listed as one of the top ten plays at his position in the portal by On3, so while Johnson is coming from the division two level, he is a heck of a player ready to compete in the SEC.
Johnson is currently ranked as the 33rd-best overall player in the transfer portal by On3.
Johnson's 2022 Stats:
15.9 ppg/ 6.6 reb/ 1.6 ast/51.4% fg/ 28.92% 3pt/ 75.9% ft
Johnson's three-point percentage was down last season, but he is a 37% career three-point shooter, so we know he can make them.
He plays hard defense, can drive the ball, and throws it down with authority.
Johnson's ability to play multiple positions will help this Auburn basketball team and help him get plenty of minutes.
Coach Pearl is building something special for the 2023-24 season, and Johnson will be a massive part of that.
Johnson definitely won't be the last addition the Tigers make in the transfer portal. Sitting back and watching Coach Pearl assemble a roster is always fun.
