Devan Cambridge could return to play for Auburn basketball
Auburn basketball needs a lot of help in the transfer portal this offseason.
They've already added Denver Jones, a 20-point per night scorer at FIU. With the departures of Wendell Green Jr, Chance Westry, Yohan Traore, Zep Jasper, and Babatunde Akingbola, the stress-filled search for depth and scoring through the portal has begun for Bruce Pearl & Co.
The Tigers already have their eyes set on several prospects... but a new, extremely familiar name has emerged as a candidate in the portal.
Devan Cambridge, a former Auburn Tiger and transfer from Arizona State, is considering coming back to play for the Tigers, per Jon Rothstein. "Arizona State transfer Devan Cambridge tells me that he will visit Oregon on Sunday," Rothstein wrote in a tweet. "Also considering Auburn, Texas Tech, and Clemson."

Cambridge, a former three-star prospect, played high school ball in Phoenix, Arizona before committing to the Tigers in 2019.
During his three seasons at Auburn, Cambridge averaged 6.0 points, 2.0 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per game. His best season came in 2020, where he started 19 games for the Tigers and averaged 8.9 points.
Statistically, he progressed shooting free throws, but regressed shooting beyond the arc. The bouncy 6-foot-6 forward shot 34.2% from three during his freshman season, 28.7% during his sophomore season, and 22.1% in his junior season.
During one season at Arizona State, Cambridge improved his game - averaging a career-best 9.8 points and 5.4 rebounds on 50.4% shooting (33.3% from deep).
Auburn forwards Allen Flanigan and Jaylin Williams are currently undecided on whether or not they will return for a super senior season, declare for the NBA Draft or enter the transfer portal. If Flanigan were to leave, it would arguably make the possibility of Cambridge coming back to the Plains more likely.
