Former Auburn star hits NBA career milestone against the Orlando Magic

This former Auburn Tiger in the NBA is playing well this month.

The Auburn Tigers currently have five former players in the NBA.

This is the most former Auburn Tigers we have seen in the NBA in a very long time and Coach Bruce Pearl is the reason why. Auburn has been playing great basketball over the last few seasons, making it an "Everything School," as Coach Pearl always likes to say. One of the former Auburn Tigers who is currently playing in the NBA has had a really good month of January.

In the month of January Isaac Okoro has been playing good basketball for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Okoro is averaging 8.7 points on the season but is averaging 9.4 so far this month. Last night, when Okoro and the Cavs took on the Orlando Magic, he scored eight points on an efficient 3-4 shooting from the field and made the only three-pointer he took. Okoro went into this ball game with 1,995 career points and was able to eclipse the 2,000-point mark with his eight against the Magic.

Tommy Wild of Cavs Insider had this to say about Okoro, "Ice was never touted as being a premier scorer when he was drafted fifth overall in the 2020 Draft out of Auburn. However, Okoro has found his fit this season, averaging 8.7 points per game while shooting an efficient 49% from the floor."

Okoro and the Cavaliers have played really good basketball this season, with a 26-15 record that has them fourth in the Eastern Conference. Okoro's defense and efficient scoring will be a big reason why the Cavs make a deep run in the playoffs.
