Auburn Offensive Standout Led The Nation In An Important Stat

The Auburn Tigers should have a better offense in 2024.

To say that the Auburn Tigers had an inconsistent offense in 2023 would be an understatement.

Auburn went and acquired Derrick Nix from Ole Miss to help Hugh Freeze with the offense. Auburn football is expecting a better offense this season.

Last season still had some highlights. Tight end Rivaldo Fairweather led all power five tight ends in contested catches. Fairweather had 11 contested catches in 2023 according to PFF.

"I feel like I left a lot of food on the table here, unfinished business," Fairweather said to local media earlier in the offseason when he announced that he would return to Auburn for another season. "It's unfinished business here. I know Coach Freeze has a great plan for us here and that we will be way better than we were last year.”

Fairweather led Auburn in catches (38) and receiving yards (394) in 2024. More targets are expected to go around for Fairweather and the rest of the pass catchers in Auburn's young and talented wide receiver room.

Auburn's pass catchers had a hard time creating space consistently in 2023 which is why Fairweather's 11 contested catches last season were so crucial. Two of those came in the game-winning drive against the Cal Golden Bears early in the season to help Auburn get an early win on the road.

Fairweather will have a full offseason with quarterback Payton Thorne this season, more talent at wide receiver around him, and a solid offensive line next to him. He expects to build and have a strong 2024 campaign.
