This stat will be crucial when Auburn takes on Florida
Auburn has a tough matchup coming up against the Florida Gators in Gainesville.
Gainesville is a tough place to play, and Auburn hasn't played well there for a very long time. Florida is 5-4 in SEC play, with their signature win coming over the Kentucky Wildcats in Rupp Arena.
Florida scores a lot of points, averaging 84.9 per game, which is good for tenth best in college basketball, but the stat about the Gators that stands out is how good they are at grabbing offensive rebounds. The Gators are second in college basketball behind Texas A&M, grabbing 16.05 offensive boards per game. Johni Broome and Jaylin Williams need to make sure they keep these feisty Gators off the glass. Coach Pearl will coach everyone to box out and crash the boards, even the guards. This is a game where everyone on the floor needs to try and grab boards.
Williams had this to say about Tre Donaldson after the win over Alabama, “Tre is a very patient guard," Williams said. "He is not going to try to do too much. If he sees something, he is going to try to get to the spot, and if you try to overplay him, he is going to get more aggressive. He is always trying to make sure everyone is in the right spots and running the right plays. It is the little things that matter the most.” Donaldson will be important in this game as Auburn needs to take care of the basketball in what will be a hectic environment.
If Auburn can keep Florida off the glass, they should be able to take care of business even in a tough place to play, but if they don't, this will be a challenging game to win.
