Source: These Auburn Tigers could have a huge fall camp
The Tigers have announced a start time for practice before the beginning of the season.
Fall camp will begin on August 2nd for the Auburn Tigers. It will be Auburn's first season underneath head coach Hugh Freeze and it will be their last as a member of the SEC West.
Zac Blackerby of Locked On Auburn podcast recently spent an episode discussing some info from a source about camp. When asked about some players that could have a huge fall camp, these are the players the source mentioned:
Keldric Faulk - JACK
Faulk was Auburn's highest-rated signee in their 2023 recruiting class. Fellow JACK Elijah McAllister recently spoke about Faulk's upside.
"He's a blessed young man. God has given them giving him the ability to do a lot of different things and a lot of natural ability that some people just don't have, that you can't teach," McAllister said. "...He's that talented and he's also a kid that likes to work, it's a joy to work with him, teaching him and bouncing ideas off him as well."
The Tigers need Faulk to step up and become a valuable contributor considering the future depth at the position.
Kayin Lee - CB
Lee was one of the most talked about players coming out of spring practice. A four-star cornerback flip from Ohio State, the freshman Lee is expected to become yet another talented cornerback Auburn sends to the NFL.
Connor Lew - C
Lew is another freshman who was flipped from a Power Five school in this year's portal cycle, moving from Miami to Hugh Freeze and the Tigers. He impressed during the spring and should be a valuable backup to East Carolina transfer Avery Jones.
The 6-foot-3, 290-pound freshman offensive lineman comes to us from Kennesaw Mountain High School, in Kennesaw, GA. This versatile young man is capable of playing both center and guard, when necessary, as he displayed during his Spring A-Day performance, lining up with the 2s at center and subsequently stepping in for Tate Johnson at guard after his injury.
Colton Hood - DB
Hood was a relatively unheralded addition to Auburn's 2023 class, as he was one of eight defensive backs added. He flipped from Michigan State.
The 6-foot, 170-pound 3-star defensive back knows Auburn well. His uncle Roderick Hood started in 18 games during his time on the Plains.
Hood's appearance on this list may be the most surprising.
Eugene Asante - LB
Eugene Asante returns after a considerably shaky first season on the Plains, plausibly looking for a redeeming season. This take is merely considering his three moderately successful seasons with the University of North Carolina Tar Heels. Asante only played in four games last season, posting only one tackle.
He's in line for a "prove it" kind of season.
Jay Fair - WR
Fair has been praised for his speed and route running since arriving on campus in 2022. The former three-star wide receiver was buried in the depth chart last season and will fight for playing time this year.
He's got the speed to make some plays in fall camp, and it wouldn't be surprising to see him as a third or fourth option for the Tigers this fall if he lives up to the hype.
Jyaire Shorter - WR
Shorter was the most explosive receiver in all of college football last season. He caught 23 passes for 628 yards and 11 touchdowns, giving him a whopping 27 yards per catch.
There are injury concerns here but if he's fully healthy by the time the season starts, he will be a weapon for Hugh Freeze and Philip Montgomery.
Rivaldo Fairweather - TE
Fairweather was one of the best pass-catching tight ends in college football last season and should expect to be one of the best again this year.
He was arguably Auburn's most reliable target in the spring and given Freeze's track record with tight ends, Fairweather could be on the brink of a monster season.
We may hear inklings of it during fall camp.
Keionte Scott - DB
After transferring in from Helix High School in 2022, Scott made his presence felt in both the Tigers' defensive backfield as well as on their special teams. Scott finished with 53 total tackles (fourth on the team), 4.0 TFL, one sack and one interception. His punt return average of 9.6 yards was sixth in the SEC.
According to On3, the former No. 2 overall JUCO prospect was one of the nation's top 15 defensive spring standouts. "Scott is on track to build on" a solid 2022 season and "the Tigers’ staff views him as a future NFL nickel back," according to Zenitz's source.
There's a lot of hype surrounding the second-year Tiger.
