Auburn is voted sixth in the SEC West in SEC Media Days Poll
The Auburn Tigers were voted sixth in the 2023 Preseason SEC Football Media Poll, only edging out Mississippi State.
In Hugh Freeze's first season on the Plains, many analysts described Auburn as a "sneaky" team over the past week at SEC Media Days but that didn't make them rank the Tigers higher in the SEC West.
The Auburn Tigers received four first-place votes.
The projected finish in the poll in the SEC West is:
1. Alabama
2. LSU
3. Texas A&M
4. Ole Miss
5. Arkansas
6. Auburn
7. Mississippi State
The projected finish in the SEC East according to the poll is:
1. Georgia
2. Tennessee
3. South Carolina
4. Kentucky
5. Florida
6. Missouri
7. Vanderbilt
Auburn received two votes to win the SEC Championship. Georgia led the way with the most votes to be crowned the SEC Champions with 181. Alabama was second with 62 votes.
Auburn had some representation on the 2023 Preseason Media Days All-SEC Team.
Running back Jarquez Hunter, corner D.J. James, corner Nehemiah Pritchett, punter Oscar Chapman, and kicker Alex McPherson were named to the third team.
