Auburn football lands WR Caleb Burton
Hugh Freeze and the Auburn Tigers are adding some talent to the wide receiver room.
The former 4-star Austin, Texas native spent one year with the Ohio State Buckeyes and will have four years of eligibility now at Auburn.
On last year's roster, Ohio State listed Burton at 5-foot-11, 169 pounds. He was recruited to play both the outside and the slot positions when he was coming out of the high school ranks.
He joins a wide receiver room that appears to have front runners in the depth chart with Camden Brown and Ja'Varrius Johnson. Freeze, and this staff brought in Cincinnati receiver Nick Mardner in the previous window. Burton will have plenty of reps to fight for early during his time at Auburn.
The receiver room lost Tar'Varrish Dawson to the transfer portal on the first day the window was open.
The Tigers have had ten players depart from the program within the last few weeks, including three backup linebackers:
Quarterback TJ Finley
Wide receiver Tar'Varish Dawson
Wide receiver Landen King
Offensive lineman Colby Smith
Defensive lineman Jeffrey M'ba
Defensive lineman Tobechi Okoli
Defensive end Dylan Brooks
Linebacker Kameron Brown
Linebacker Desmond Tisdol
Linebacker Powell Gordon
Auburn has pulled in an impressive haul thus far during Hugh Freeze's first season on the Plains, currently sitting at No. 3 nationally in 247Sports' transfer portal class rankings.
