Auburn DB Keionte Scott withdraws from the transfer portal
Auburn dodged a bullet with Keionte Scott.
Scott has announced that he will be withdrawing his name from the transfer portal and returning to play another season with the Tigers.
"Thankful for the patience and the honest opinions but the REAL know where home is for me. #WDE" Scott said in a tweet. Auburn running back Damari Alston quoted the tweet, saying "Let's do what we talked about..." To which Scott replied "Starts now (UP! emoji)."
Over the course of 22 games, Scott has recorded 97 tackles, six tackles for loss, and one interception for Auburn. The Tigers are losing a large majority of their defensive backfield from 2023 - four of the ten cornerbacks that recorded a snap for Auburn in 2023 are gone. Three of the nine safeties are gone.
Texas DT Trill Carter commits to Auburn football
The departures of Scott, DJ James, Nehemiah Pritchett, Zion Puckett and Jaylin Simpson leave the cupboard pretty somewhat bare for 2024, but Scott's return helps out a ton. Still, Auburn is going to have to develop a lot of young talent quickly, or get some players in from the transfer portal fast.
Scott's return came on the same day that Auburn defensive coordinator Ron Roberts was hired away from the Tigers to become the co-defensive coordinator and linebackers coach for the Florida Gators.
