Former North Texas receiver Jyaire Shorter has committed to Auburn
Auburn has landed former North Texas receiver Jyaire Shorter to bolster up a wide receiver room that is in desperate need of help.
Shorter is a six-foot-two 218-pound wideout that will fit in perfectly with what Coach Freeze wants to do with this offense.
Shorter's stat line from last season was a really interesting one. He caught 23 passes for 628 yards and 11 touchdowns.
This gives him a whooping 27 yards per catch.
Shorter is a big play wideout with an elite mix of strength and speed.
His big play ability is incredible, and it seems like he caught a long touchdown almost every game last season for North Texas.
Shorter's hands are strong, and he has the innate ability to win 50/50 balls.
I expect Shorter to play a significant role for the Tigers in 2023, especially on deep balls.
This is a massive addition for the Tigers as Coach Freeze, and company were able to go get help for recently signed quarterback Payton Thorne.
The Tigers had ten players depart from the program within the spring portal window, including three backup linebackers:
Quarterback TJ Finley
Wide receiver Tar'Varish Dawson
Wide receiver Landen King
Offensive lineman Colby Smith
Defensive lineman Jeffrey M'ba
Defensive lineman Tobechi Okoli
Defensive end Dylan Brooks
Linebacker Kameron Brown
Linebacker Desmond Tisdol
Linebacker Powell Gordon
Auburn has pulled in an impressive haul thus far during Hugh Freeze's first season on the Plains, currently sitting at No. 3 nationally in 247Sports' transfer portal class rankings.
