Auburn football projected to miss bowl game in latest ESPN FPI
The numbers have little faith in Hugh Freeze in his first year on the Plains.
According to ESPN's latest edition of their football power index (FPI), the Auburn Tigers are ranked No. 39 out of 133 FBS teams. Their projected record from the model is 5.8-6.2, which would be the Tigers' third straight losing season if ESPN were correct.
The last time Auburn had back-to-back-to-back losing seasons was 1975-1977, which included Coach Shug Jordan's final season and Doug Barfield's first two.
Auburn's No. 39 ranking is good for 11th in the SEC. Here is what the ESPN FPI top 25 looks like:
