Auburn podcaster talks about how a recent coaching staff hire will help make Auburn better

This hire makes Auburn's football team better.
In this story:

Coach Hugh Freeze made a hire recently that should help him be able to focus his attention more on the football field.

Last season, Coach Freeze was honest in saying he wasn't all that involved in the game plan as he was so focused on recruiting the 2024 and 2025 classes. His former offensive coordinator, Philip Montogomery, and defensive coordinator, Ron Roberts, were responsible for the game plans. Offensively, in the games where Coach Freeze got more involved, the offense was better.

The Auburn Tigers hired Will Redmond from LSU, who will help the Tigers build an incredible roster. This will let Coach Freeze be able to focus more on things that help Auburn on the football field while Redmond will focus on roster management. During his time at LSU, Redmond put together a roster that helped the Bayou Bengles win the SEC West in 2022.

Host of Locked On Auburn Zac Blackerby had this to say about the hire of Redmond, "It was pretty telling when Brian Kelly got to Baton Rouge and chose to retain him, and obviously that was the right decision because they flipped the roster almost immediately. Redmond was a huge part of that, and one of the biggest debates internally throughout the Auburn fan base during Hugh Freeze's first year at Auburn was, okay, what's the proper balance here? Clearly, we need Hugh Freeze to be a part of the game plan regarding the offense and the play-calling on Saturday. It was a noticeable difference when he was involved versus when he wasn't. But also, you don't get this class that you got in 2024 without Hugh Freeze putting his efforts there. I think bringing in a Will Redmond allows him to not have to focus as much time on off the field type things as far as roster construction and rating players on a big board both transfer and high school kids. Hugh Freeze is still going to be involved with all of that, as he should. He's the head coach. For the fans that want Hugh Freeze to call plays more, which is most Auburn fans, this is a huge move. Sure, it's an off the field role. It's not one of the guys who will be out there hitting the road recruiting. This is the type of hire you need that makes your program better. It's not super flashy, but Auburn football got better with this hire

This hire will make Auburn's offense better next season as Coach Freeze can focus his attention on drawing up a winning game plan rather than roster management.
