In this story:

No matter where a college football fan turns, there are reports of Texas A&M eating roughly 75 million dollars and firing head coach Jimbo Fisher.

From 2018 to the present day, Fisher is 45-25 as the leader of the Aggies. More is expected, however, especially with how Fisher recruits. To that point, Auburn should directly benefit from Fisher being shown the door.

That notion is something I wrote about on Oct. 22. Here’s the article discussing the original notion of why the Tigers will see an uptick in recruiting, with even better news as one reads further below.

Around the SEC: Auburn Recruiting Will Benefit From Texas A&M’s Failures

It’s no secret that Auburn needs a talent influx at wide receiver. It just so happens that Phenix City (Ala.) Central wide receiver Cam Coleman is one of the nation’s best. The 6-foot-4 and 190-pound receiver is electric in the open field and he jumps over and takes the football away from defensive backs.

In short, he’s a dude. Coleman is technically in the fold for the Aggies and their 2024 recruiting class at the moment. How much longer does that continue with Fisher being fired?

Perhaps Coleman already knows the writing is on the wall. Yesterday he took in the Miami at Florida State game inside of Doak Campbell Stadium. His recruitment will be heavily contested until he signs a letter of intent on Dec. 20.

Like Florida State, The Auburn coaching staff is also working hard to land Coleman, and Fisher’s departure from College Station, Texas will aid that endeavor. Coleman may not be the only current A&M commitment to think about either.

Researching A&M’s commitment list, there are several Texas and Louisiana prospects that Hugh Freeze and his staff could make a move for (if they did not already). Also, a wide receiver like Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton’s Debron Gatling, that’s someone inside of Auburn’s home base for recruiting.

Nobody is stating that he’s a prime AU target, but Gatling is from suburban Atlanta. Therefore, nothing would be surprising as the Aggies recruiting class could implode with Fisher’s ouster and subsequent A&M assistant coaches being left in limbo.

Keep an eye on the Fisher situation as the Auburn recruiting class certainly has a chance to benefit from Coleman flipping to the Tigers, and it’s not out of the question that other targets could eventually be in the mix as well.
