Reading the title to today’s Around the SEC edition, one might be a little puzzled. That’s okay. Here’s the deal as it relates to the Auburn Tigers and the Texas A&M Aggies.

The Aggies are struggling on the field and it’s Year 6 for Jimbo Fisher. Aggies fans are furious – and should be – about how their beloved Aggies are playing. The 4-3 A&M squad has talent galore. It's hard to figure out why it's struggling so much. Now it's time to discuss recruiting.

Most of the talent that Fisher and his staff are assembling comes from Texas. Fair enough. But the Aggies are also landing prospects like Cam Coleman from Phenix City (Ala.) Central and recruits from other states that Auburn recruits heavily like Georgia and Florida.

How much longer are the non-Texas recruits going to be all-in with Fisher and the Aggies?

It’s debatable and there’s simply no telling with high school prospects. That being the case, it's hard to see A&M continuing to land top recruits from Atlanta, Miami, and all points in between with such a mid-level season, yet again.

Auburn, meanwhile, is a program that's just getting going with its own revival. Hugh Freeze and the Tigers certainly have a long way to the promised land, but there's hope because it's Year 1 for Freeze. This coaching staff is also recruiting quite well. Hard to doubt them against a sinking ship.

In short, do not be surprised if the Aggies see some decommitments and then Auburn is one of the schools that capitalizes. Additionally, Auburn is probably going to win more head-to-head battles with A&M moving forward.

To be clear, this is a big box proposal. No specific player is in question. That does not mean Auburn is not trying to flip Coleman and/or other A&M commitments.

It’s just that Auburn stands to gain from A&M’s demise; the rumors of Fisher being ousted are going to help the Tigers recruit even better than it already is.

Even if there are just a couple of prospects that AU signs because A&M’s recruiting efforts do in fact fall off, that’s good news for the Tigers. A&M's time as a top recruiting program could be coming to a close, at least for now.

Auburn is going to benefit from A&M's struggles. That's the nature of the SEC, and that's the end of this week's Around the SEC edition.
