College football expert predicts Alabama will fire Kalen DeBoer in about four years
After legendary head coach Nick Saban retired, Alabama brought in Kalen DeBoer to replace him.
DeBoer was the head coach at Washinton, leading the Huskies all the way to the National Championship game after beating the Texas Longhorns in the College Football Playoff Semi-Final. The Huskies went on to face Michigan in the National Championship game, where they lost 34-13.
We found out days after this game that DeBoer would take over for Saban who is going to retire after a legendary career. It's always said you don't want to be the guy after the guy, and that is the situation DeBoer has walked into in Tuscaloosa. Expectations will be high for DeBoer after what Saban did during his long career coaching the Crimson Tide.
Clay Travis of Outkick joined The Next Round to talk about DeBoer. He was asked by The Next Round if DeBoer scares him at all as the head coach at Alabama. Travis responded, "Zero, that is the answer because Kalen DeBoer will be fired in about four years. Alabama fans are going to have completely unrealistic expectations. What I think Alabama fans are going to recognize and I think a lot of them already knew this but are seeing it now even clearer. Alabama didn't have a dynasty; Nick Saban had a dynasty. Saban could of had a dynasty at ten to 12 maybe even 15 different college football programs. That's how good he was. The success that he had I don't think will ever equal at any point of any of our lives."
It will not be easy for DeBoer to win over the Alabama fan base without winning football games. This fanbase is used to wins, and if DeBoer isn't delivering them, folks will be very upset.
