Which SEC teams remain undefeated heading into week four?
With only three weeks in the books, the 2023 college football season has gotten off to a wild start.
The tides of the game are changing, and new powers are starting to take over. With conference play set to begin this week, which SEC teams are yet to suffer a loss this season?
Auburn Tigers
The new era of Auburn football is off to as good of a start as possible. The Tigers are 3-0 and have settled on Payton Thorne as their quarterback.
With some lingering injuries on the defensive side of the ball, it will be interesting to see if Auburn is still on this list after its matchup with Texas A&M at Kyle Field this weekend.
Georgia Bulldogs
The back-to-back national champions are ranked No. 1 nationally. The Bulldogs opened up conference play in week three with a 24-14 win over South Carolina. Georgia will take on the UAB Blazers at home this week.
Kentucky Wildcats
Kentucky is 3-0, but has not been challenged yet. That will likely not change this weekend as the Wildcats open up conference play against the Vanderbilt Commodores.
Missouri Tigers
Missouri is 3-0 but is the one of two teams on this list with a win over a ranked opponent. The Tigers edged out a thrilling 30-27 win over No. 15 Kansas State at home last weekend. Harrison Mevis hit a 61-yard field goal as time expired.
Missouri hosts Memphis this week and opens up conference play on the road against Vanderbilt in week five.
Ole Miss Rebels
Ole Miss checked in at No. 15 in this week's AP poll. The Rebels are the other team on this list with a win over a ranked opponent. They beat No. 24 Tulane 37-20 on the road in week two.
Ole Miss has a tough test to begin conference play as they head to Tuscaloosa to take on No. 13 Alabama this week. Could this be head coach Lane Kiffin's first win over Nick Saban?
Notable teams missing:
Alabama Crimson Tide
Alabama has experienced some unusual struggles to begin the season. With uncertainty at the quarterback position and trouble with the offensive line, the Tide find themselves outside of the top 10 for the first time since Sept. 2017.
Alabama lost to No. 11 Texas 32-24 at home in week two and looked less than ideal against South Florida in week three.
Ole Miss will give Alabama a fight this weekend. This game gives Alabama an opportunity to prove they aren't going anywhere yet.
It is a big week in the SEC as conference play is set to begin for most teams. Previously unchallenged teams will be tested soon, and the legitimate contenders will have chances to prove themselves.
