Bracketology Expert Has Baylor Bears as a No. 4 Seed in NCAA Tournament
Even after the Baylor Bears lost their six-game winning streak Monday at the hands of the No. 10 Texas Longhorns, it doesn't affect their resume all that much when it comes to the NCAA Tournament. Just over a month away from the "Big Dance", Bracketology expert Joe Lunardi has the eleventh-ranked Bears as a No. 4 seed.
Baylor has not been seeded this low in the tournament since 2018-19, when they exited the dance floor as a No. 8 seed, losing to top-ranked Gonzaga. The Bears have been a No. 1 seed in each of the last two tournaments, winning the national championship over Gonzaga in 2020-21.
Scott Drew and the Bears are joined by several Big 12 conference foes in the top four seeds. While no Big 12 team is slated as a No. 1 seed, they have two teams in each slot between No. 2 and No. 4 seeds.
The Kansas Jayhawks and Texas Longhorns lead the way for the conference as No. 2 seeds, the Kansas State Wildcats and Iowa State Cyclones are slated at No. 3, and the TCU Horned Frogs are alongside the Bears at No. 4.
In all, Lunardi's current Bracketology projection has an incredible eight Big 12 teams getting bids, with a ninth (Oklahoma State) on the bubble. If the Big 12 were to send nine teams to the dance, it would be the record for representatives from one conference.
The Bears can bolster their resume by getting back in the win column against Texas Tech Saturday. Baylor beat the Red Raiders earlier this month in Lubbock, thanks to a terrific shooting display from Keyonte George.
