Baylor Bears' Al Walcott Enters Transfer Portal
Baylor Bears safety Al Walcott announced he will be entering the transfer portal on Thursday, Dec. 29.
Walcott broke the news on his Twitter social media account.
“I would like to thank all the coaches and staff at Baylor,” Walcott tweeted. “Thank you Coach Aranda for the opportunity you have gave me I am very appreciative. To my teammates I appreciate y'all for everything and I am thankful for the bonds that I've made with y'all!
“That being said I will be entering the transfer portal as a Grad transfer! Thank you Baylor for everything.”
This past season for the Baylor football team, Walcott garnered 80 total tackles (41 solo) along with 10 tackles for loss (35 yards), five pass deflections, three forced fumbles, two sacks (20 yards) and one interception.
Through his three years as a Bear, Walcott played in 32 games -- primarily as a safety and on special teams -- and racked up 116 total tackles (72 solo), 13 pass deflections, 12 tackles for loss (40 yards), four interceptions, three forced fumbles, three sacks (21 yards) and one block.
He also holds the Sugar Bowl record for the longest interception return for a touchdown (96 yards), the second-longest in program history.
