Baylor’s Gabe Hall, Richard Reese Receive Big 12 Honors
Baylor football players Gabe Hall and Richard Reese garnered Big 12 Conference honors following the Bears lopsided 45-17 victory over the Texas Tech Red Raiders this past weekend in Lubbock.
Hall, a junior defensive lineman for Baylor coach Dave Aranda’s defensive-minded Bears, tallied three sacks in the team’s road win over the Red Raiders.
Overall, the Bears defense delivered a season-high six sacks along with five interceptions (the most in a single game in over 30 years) in the school’s first win in Lubbock since 1990.
Reese, a freshman running back who has burst into the national spotlight with his nifty jukes and lightning speed helping to carry the Bears to multiple victories, had another breakout performance while rushing for 148 yards on 36 carries with three touchdowns in Baylor’s victory over Texas Tech.
So far this season, Reese has racked up four multiple-touchdown efforts and three 100-yard contests while collecting 12 total touchdowns.
Hall and Reese are joined by conference players Will Howard (Kansas State quarterback, Offensive Player of the Week), Ty Zentner (Kansas State punter, Co-Special Teams Player of the Week) and Michael Turk (Oklahoma punter, Co-Special Teams Player of the Week) as this week’s Big 12 honorees.
The Bears have now picked up a duo of weekly Big 12 awards in back-to-back seasons, with Tresten Ebner (Special Teams Player of the Week) and Garmon Randolph (Co-Defensive Player of the Week) taking home the honors following Baylor’s home win over Iowa State in late September 2021.
