Baylor RB Richard Reese Sets New Record vs. TCU
The Baylor Bears are off to a hot start against the TCU Horned Frogs at McLane Stadium in Waco on Saturday.
And their sensational freshman runningback, Richard Reese, has already played a major role in the contest.
However, Reese also hit a major milestone in the first quarter on Saturday morning, becoming the most prolific freshman runner in Baylor football history by setting a new record for rushing yards.
Reese surpassed Shock Linwood, who had set the record during the 2013 season. Reese entered the game with 852 yards rushing, just 29 yards shy of Linwood's record.
Through the first quarter against the Horned Frogs, Reese is already making his presence felt, rushing two times for 37 yards, including a 27 yard carry.
As a team, the Bears were just one yard shy of the century mark in the first quarter.
Reese has exploded onto the scene in recent weeks especially, with three games over 140 yards rushing, including back-to-back games of 148 yards and three touchdowns against Texas Tech, and 186 yards and two touchdowns against Kansas.
However, in the last two weeks before the TCU matchup, Reese has been limited to just 61 yards on 13 carries.
Reese has 13 touchdowns on the season.
