The Baylor Bears enter the 2022 season as the favorites to repeat as Big 12 champions, a feat they have not accomplished since going back-to-back in 2013 and 2014.

One look at the talent returning for the Bears and it is not hard to see why they are the favorites. Despite losing multiple key players from a defense that led Baylor to the Big 12 title and a Sugar Bowl victory last season, the Bears do return talent across the board on that side of the ball.

Perhaps no position returns more depth than the Bears' defensive line, as defensive tackle Cole Maxwell believes that is a huge boost for the Baylor defense. 

"With everybody coming back and the depth that we have, it's gonna be a huge benefit for us," Maxwell said. "Everybody that started and everybody that was backing up really came back. With the depth that we have, it'll be good for us."

The Baylor defense was stout against the run as they only gave up 120.5 yards per game on the ground. Maxwell is joined on the defensive line by preseason All-Big 12 Team member Siaki Ika, along with a plethora of returning talent. 

However, they don't return talent on the just defensive line, as their offensive line could be one of the best in the country. According to Maxwell, anchored by 2021 Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year Connor Galvin, the Baylor offensive line only makes the Bears' defensive line that much better in practice.

"We've got good on good every single day," Maxwell said. "We've got two of the best offensive and defensive lines in the nation, which is going to make us better going into the season."

As the Bears prepare to win a second straight Big 12 championship, their success will start in the trenches. With elite units on both the offensive and defensive lines, Baylor will often control the line of scrimmage and
