Five Baylor football players, led by running back linebacker Dillon Doyle, are part of the 2022 College Football America Yearbook Preseason Big 12 Starting Lineup, released this week.

The Big 12 Starting Lineup is the publication’s equivalent of a preseason All-Big 12 Team.

Doyle is a two-time Big 12 Honorable Mention selection who was second on the team in tackles with 91 and tackles for loss with 8.5 last season.

There were two other selections on defense.

Defensive tackle Siaki Ika was the Big 12 Defensive Newcomer of the Year and an All-Big 12 Second Team defensive lineman. He was tied for third-most sacks on the team with four last season.

Cornerback Al Walcott started the last eight games of the 2021 season for the Bears, and while he finished with 30 tackles, his signature play came in the bowl game, when he set a Sugar Bowl Record with a 96-yard interception return for a touchdown against Ole Miss

Two offensive players also made the team.

Offensive lineman Connor Galvin Started all 14 games at left tackle in 2021, during which he earned several All-America honors and All-Big 12 First Team selection.

Tight end Ben Sims is coming off a 2021 in which he started 13 of 14 games, was an All-Big 12 Honorable Mention and finished with 31 receptions, 361 yards and nine touchdowns, the last of which was the most in program history for a tight end in a single season.

The College Football America 2022 Yearbook features Houston quarterback Clayton Tune on the cover. Houston, BYU, Cincinnati and UCF will join the Big 12 in 2023.
