Baylor Bears coach Dave Aranda and his talented group of recruiters did not get a day off Saturday as they landed their 17th recruit of the 2023 class in Mayde Creek cornerback Tay'Shawn Wilson.

Wilson becomes the fourth defensive back commit this week and the second corner to commit Saturday alone, with Baylor landing cornerback Carl Williams IV as well.

Wilson is one of the elite cornerbacks in Texas and the third highly-rated Texas recruit to commit to Baylor from the 2023 class, alongside quarterback Austin Novosad (Dripping Springs) and linebacker Christian Brathwaite (Cy Ranch).

As is to be expected with a defensive guru like Aranda at the helm, Saturday's commitments tip the scales towards the defensive side of the ball, with Wilson becoming the ninth defender in the class to commit.

Also in the defensive backfield, the Bears have landed Cory Huff Jr. (Aldine Nimitz) and D.J. Coleman (Mesquite Horn). Also defensively, the Bears boast the commitments of Brathwaite, linebacker Corey Kelly (League City Clear Falls), and Taurean York (Temple) as well as Novosad and RB Bryson Washington (Franklin) headlining the offensive side.

Wilson also had offers from Nebraska, Texas, and his hometown Houston Cougars. You can chalk up the recruiting victory to cornerback coach Kevin Curtis on this one, landing the commitment just one day after Wilson took his official visit.
