BYU is Up to Seven Commits in the 2024 Recruiting Class

The Cougars have picked up three commitments in the last week

Historically speaking, June has been an important recruiting month for BYU. That trend has held true this year as BYU has received three commitments since the start of the month. The Cougars have also hosted multiple highly-coveted recruits for official visits.

As of this article, BYU has a solid foundation of seven players committed in the 2024 class. Five of the seven commits are projected to play defense at BYU. Here are the seven 2024 commits.

1. Ryner Swanson

Ryner Swanson is a four-star tight end out of California. Swanson committed to BYU on Thursday over fellow finalists Texas, Oregon, Texas A&M, and Utah. Swanson is a well-rounded tight end that has the potential to be a multi-year starter at BYU.

2. Chance Harrison

Chance Harrison was the first out-of-state commit in the 2024 class. Harrison is an athlete that plays both defensive back and wide receiver for Rio Mesa High School in Oxnard, California. BYU was the first school to extend Harrison an offer last year. He visited BYU's campus for the Baylor game last season and committed shortly after the game.

Harrison's recruitment is starting to heat up. He has received competing offers from San Diego State, Washington State, Colorado State, and San Jose State this year.

3. Dallin Johnson

Dallin Johnson is a local standout from Springville High School. Johnson committed to BYU in June of 2021 during an unofficial visit. Johnson plays both defensive tackle and center for Springville, but he was offered as a defensive tackle by the previous staff. Johnson recently received a competing offer from Washington State.

Johnson comes from a BYU family. His grandpa is Brent Johnson who was a kicker for BYU in 1978 and 1979 when the Cougars won back-to-back WAC championships.

4. Siosefa Brown

Siosefa Brown committed to BYU back in January. He picked BYU over competing Power Five offers from Utah, Cal, Wasington State, and Vanderbilt. Brown's recruiting profile was on a rapid trajectory when he decided to shut down his recruitment early and commit to BYU.

Brown, who received an early three-star rating from 247Sports, preps at Highland High School in Salt Lake City. Brown is a 6'5 defensive end prospect that also spent some time on offense as a wide receiver last season. His size, athleticism, and pass-rushing ability make him a perfect fit in Jay Hill's defensive scheme. It is his ability to disrupt off the edge that will make him a difference maker in Provo.

5. Adney Reid

One of the lesser known recruits in the class, Adney Reid is a linebacker/defensive end prospect. Adney is the son of former BYU tight end Gabe Reid who is currently serving as the mission president of the Australia Sydney mission. The Reid's moved to Australia in July of 2021 to begin their missionary service. Adney moved with his family to Sydney that Summer after his freshman season of high school.

Reid has been playing basketball and rugby in Australia. He held a competing scholarship offer from Utah when he committed to BYU.

6. Thomas Prassas

On Wednesday, three-star safety and Arizona native Thomas Prassas committed to BYU. Prassas, who is listed at 6'2, preps at the Brasha High School, the same school as current BYU safety Micah Harper. Prassas held competing offers from Air Force, Bowling Green, Central Michigan, and New Mexico State.

In his high school career, Thomas has racked up nearly 150 total tackles and five interceptions. Prassas received an offer from BYU defensive coordinator and safeties coach Jay Hill last week. It didn't take him long to jump at the opportunity to play his college ball in Provo.

7. Enoch Watson

On Sunday, Arizona quarterback prospect Enoch Watson shut down his recruitment and committed to BYU. Enoch, the younger brother of 2022 signee Pierson Watson, is the first quarterback to commit to BYU in the 2024 recruiting class.
