Cal offensive lineman transfer Everett Johnson announced on social media Sunday that he has committed to Montana.

This amounts to a Big Sky trade for Cal. Idaho cornerback Marcus Harris, a first-team all-Big Sky selection as well as an AP FCS first-team All-America pick, on Sunday committed to transferring to Cal. And now Johnson is headed to Montana, which is 13-1 and will play in the FCS national championship game on January 7.

Everett was primarily a backup offensive lineman for Cal.  He played in just one game in 2023, and that was when he came off the bench to get playing time in the Bears' season-opening 58-21 victory over North Texas.

The 6-foot-7, 300-pound Johnson made two starts in his four seasons at Cal.  He started one game in 2022 and one in 2021 as a redshirt freshman.  He saw action in five games in 2021 and eight games in 2022.

He attended Turlock High School, and had offers from Oregon State, Fresno State, Utah State and San Jose State as well as Cal coming out of high school.
