UC Hoops Stars Of The Game: Three Bearcats Cross 20 Points In Blowout Win
COLUMBUS — The Bearcats notched an 84-54 win over Temple in its first game of the AAC Tournament on Friday. The two teams' last nine games were decided by single digits.
Things looked bleak early on for Cincinnati, but then they turned things on full throttle. Once it got rolling and shots started raining, there was no looking back.
Cincinnati trailed 16-6 and then outscored Temple 78-38 for the largest conference tournament win in school history, eclipsing their previous best of a 27-point win against Saint Louis in 1997.
Here are the stars who stood out in today's game.
1. Landers Nolley II - Nolley has a lot of March experience, having won an NIT and played in the NCAA Tournament with Memphis the last two seasons. The first-team All-AAC selection led the Bearcats with 22 points on 8-of-19 shooting—including 4-of-8 on three-point shooting.
2. Mika Adams-Woods - Another veteran, finally shining in the postseason. The senior from Syracuse, New York could not miss, at times, racking up 20 points on 7-of-11 shooting—including 5-of-7 from three-point range.
3. Dan Skillings Jr. - To quote Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, "you should have bought stock a long time ago." The freshman from Philadelphia keeps getting better and better each game, setting a career-high with 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting while also pulling down six rebounds.
