Weekly NET: Cincinnati Stays Static in Bubble Race Despite Win Over Kansas State

The Bearcats still have a lot of work to do to make the dance.
In this story:

CINCINNATI — The Bearcats pulled off a Quad 2 win at home over Kansas State on Saturday, but it only helped them tread water in an unlikely pursuit of a 2024 NCAA Tournament at-large bid.

Cincinnati has been at No. 45 in the NET for nearly two weeks in a row as the 74-72 win did nothing to boost them there. On top of that, TeamRankings kept them static with a 15% overall chance of making the tournament.

None of the 93 verified projections on The Bracket Matrix included Cincinnati in the field as of this writing.

Win on Tuesday as an underdog against Oklahoma, and the chances should start to climb. Cincinnati has to at least get to 21 wins this season (four more wins in a row) to have any realistic chance at an at-large bid.

TeamRankings gives them a 53.6% chance to make the dance with 21 wins and an 86.1% chance at 22 wins. That falls to 31% at 20 wins and 6.8% at 19 wins.
