Ahmad 'Sauce' Gardner Now PFF's Highest-Graded Corner

CINCINNATI — Cincinnati legend Ahmad Sauce Gardner is now PFF's top-graded NFL corner after another shutdown outing against the Patriots in the Jets' 10-3 loss on Sunday.

His 85.9 overall grade eclipsed Denver corner Patrick Surtain II after the Bronco got the business from Davante Adams this weekend.

"Gardner had another strong day in coverage, allowing just two catches for 19 yards and one first down against the New England Patriots," Marcus Mosher wrote. "His PFF grade suffered a little due to run defense, as he blew contain on a big run that resulted in a significant New England gain, but that’s a play that doesn’t show up even in advanced coverage metrics. Overall this season, Gardner looks like one of the best cornerbacks in the game and a steal for the Jets with their first pick of the draft."

It seems like every week a stat line like "two catches, for 19 yards" pops up next to Gardner's name. It's amazing how consistent he is already 10 games into his professional carer.

Meanwhile, the Texans might want to have that third overall pick back, cornerback Derek Stingley sports a 49.1 grade this season and is dealing with a nagging hamstring injury.
