CINCINNATI — UC is well in the mix for one of the best edge rushers in the 2024 class.

Linebacker Qua Birdsong out of Troup County (Georgia) placed Cincinnati in his top-five schools along with Arkansas, UCF, Miami, and Michigan.

According to 247Sports, Birdsong is the 174th-ranked player nationally and the 16th-ranked linebacker. ESPN has him ranked 183rd and 16th among linebackers.

According to On3, Cincinnati (35.2%) is the leader in the clubhouse to land Birdsong after he did not include Georgia Tech among the five. He would be the highest-rated recruit in the 247Sports era to sign with Cincinnati and a nice way to splash onto the scene for Scott Satterfield.

UC offered Birdsong in early-January.

Stack some more muscle and he'll be a menace to opposing defenses. The junior has a great play-to-play motor with no wasted movement—he takes great angles on pass rushes and times snaps very well for a high schooler.

His 6-foot-1, 185-pound frame and playing style remind me a lot of Ivan Pace Jr. Birdsong has a similar motor around the line of scrimmage. He is a decent cover man as well but makes his mark pursuing the quarterback as a linebacker/defensive end hybrid.
