UC Tight End Josh Whyle Opting Out Of Fenway Bowl
CINCINNATI — One of the greatest tight ends in program history is saying goodbye to the Bearcats.
Josh Whyle announced he is opting out of the Fenway Bowl and declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft.
"To the fans," Whyle wrote in his goodbye. "You have played a vital role in our success during my time at UC. Whether it was a sold-out Nippert Stadium or a South Bend takeover, you guys made everything worth it. The memories that have been made in the past five years will travel with me for the rest of my life.
"With that said, this chapter of my life has come to an end, and another is beginning. I have decided to opt-out of the bowl game and declare for the 2023 NFL Draft. I am excited for what's to come."
He ends his career with the most touchdowns in team history from a tight end (15) to go with 88 career catches, and 1,062 yards. Now, he'll try to follow in Travis Kelce and Josiah Deguara's footsteps at the next level.
Consensus draft rankings have Whyle slotted 209th overall in the 2023 NFL draft and place him 10th among tight ends. ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. and Matt Miller have him rated as the second-best H-back/fullback in this class.
