CINCINNATI — ESPN's Mel Kiper Jr. released his latest positional big board for the 2023 NFL Draft, and one Bearcat made the cut, albeit in a curious spot.

Kiper rated senior tight end Josh Whyle as his second-best H-Back/Fullback. ESPN colleague Matt Miller also placed Whyle second on the same list.

Dive into the tight end's role this season and it's easier to understand why those two are scouting him in a new position. Whyle has lined up in H-Back/Fullback blocking positions for much of the year. He's been a big reason why the Bearcats rushing attack has popped when it has.

The fullback position is nowhere near as prevalent as it was in the mid-90s but it's still a place to find an NFL home. This season, 20-of-32 teams roster a FB, and your chances of sticking around increase dramatically if you can play special teams.

Whyle has plenty of experience in that phase of the game across five years as a Bearcat. On the season, Whyle's totaled 22 catches for 321 yards and three scores.
