CINCINNATI — A 2023 Boston College recruit de-committed yesterday, and it didn't take long for him to join UC.

Three-star St. Frances Academy edge rusher Brian "Mook" Simms III just committed to UC as the team's 22nd recruit in this cycle.

According to 247Sports Composite, Simms is the 847th-ranked player nationally and the 95th-rated defensive lineman.

UC offered him last month and brought him in for an official visit during the South Florida game. It didn't take much longer for him to flip.

Simms is a solid talent with a nice 6-foot-4, 240-pound frame to build on. He is raw on film with plenty of power and size to defend the run well and meet rushers at the point of attack. I'll be interested to see how his pass-rushing package expands the rest of his senior year.

That aspect of his game needs some polishing. Check out highlights of Simms here.

He joins what will be the highest-ranked UC class of the 247Sports era. It is hovering right around 24th nationally when averaging all the major recruiting rankings.
