CINCINNATI — The second shoe has dropped on the 2023 UC men's basketball recruiting class. Four-star Olympia (Florida) guard Jizzle James has committed to play for the Bearcats.

The senior made his decision on Tuesday night from a final three school lineup of LSU, UC, and Georgia.

According to 247Sports Composite, James is the 53rd-ranked player in the class and the ninth-ranked point guard. ESPN has him ranked as the 60th-best player in the class and the 15th-best point guard.

Cincinnati has now signed two top-60 recruits in Wes Miller's first full-scale recruiting cycle after landing Rayvon Griffith earlier this year.

James is the son of NFL Hall of Fame running back Edgerrin James who played 11 seasons with the Indianapolis Colts, Arizona Cardinals, and Seattle Seahawks in the 2000s.

His son has plenty of potential on the hardwood. Jizzle sports a smooth, quick-trigger jumper and unteachable agility on the open floor. He's arguably one of the best midrange shooter in the 2023 class. Speed is a big component in his game and he uses it as his primary weapon to attack the basket.

James is a player that can fit pretty smoothly with any backcourt running mates. UC fans can dream a little clearer about the idea of a three-headed guard attack featuring Jizzle, Griffith, and top 2023 target Isaiah Collier.

Cincinnati could very well snag four top-60 recruits in this cycle, including what many believe is the top player nationally in Collier.

James just sealed the deal on another step forward in a new era for Bearcats basketball.
