Clemson Stays Hot in Texas, Makes Final 5 for Elite Corner

Corian Gipson, the No. 7 corner in the class of 2025 per 247Sports' Composite Rankings, included Clemson in his final 5 schools.

Corian Gipson, the No. 7 corner in the class of 2025 per 247Sports' Composite Rankings, dropped his final five teams on Wednesday. Clemson made the cut, along with Ohio State, Texas, TCU, and Alabama. This continues a trend of Clemson recruiting the state of Texas at a high level, and the addition of offensive coordinator Garrett Riley - who has coaching stops at TCU and SMU - should help expand those efforts.

Gipson is the No. 12 player in Texas for the class of 2025. Clemson signed 3 of the top 60 players out of Texas in 2023. In 2022, the Tigers landed Cade Klubnik, the No. 1 quarterback in the class, out of Austin. As for 2024, Clemson has a multitude of offers out to Texas high school football players, with a good chance to land them. The Tigers did miss on quarterback DJ Lagway (Florida).

Clemson Offers to 2024 Texas High School Players

  • DJ Lagway - QB - Willis - 5-star (Florida commit)
  • Bryant Wesco - WR - Midlothian - 4-star
  • Michael Uini - OT - Copperas Cove - 4-star
  • Blake Frazier - OT - Vandegrift - 4-star
  • Corian Gipson - CB - Lancaster - 4-star
  • Casey Poe - OL - Lindale - 4-star

Clemson has just 57 offers currently out for the class of 2024. As 247's Steve Wiltfong mentioned, Clemson head football coach Dabo Swinney is extremely selective when it comes to extending an offer. "It's hard to get an offer from Clemson. They're looking for some unique traits not only as a football player but as a young man..."
