The Colorado women's basketball program is coming off a historic Sweet 16 bid under coach JR Payne. There's a lot to be excited in Boulder going into next season, including the addition of newcomer Shelomi Sanders at guard from Jackson State.

The youngest daughter of Coach Prime has been working hard on the floor for the 20th-ranked Lady Buffs but took time out for Media Day on Tuesday. It was the first time she was shown the Saturday Night Live skit making the rounds with Kenan Thompson acting as her father from the weekend. Shelomi got a few laughs, but overall, she says the show missed the mark.

"It was good," Sanders told the Denver Post. "But then it's like, okay, they're kind of getting him wrong." She was asked to follow up her comments and said, "The way that they were saying stuff is kind of like, all he cares about is 'the show,' and stuff like that. That's not him, though."

Sanders went on to say, "Yea, it was funny, though." She also admitted that nobody else in the family has watched the video.

"Bossy," as she's compassionately referred to by those around her, has built a solid reputation due to her outstanding work ethic. It has to be a bit of a whirlwind watching the rest of your family on the other side of campus go through a rollercoaster year.

However, Sanders stays focused on the task at hand with the Lady Buffs looking to make bigger waves than they did last year. That journey starts with a season opener vs. No. 1 LSU in Las Vegas on Nov. 6. To be the best, you have to be able to shock the world. Being about to upset the defending champs in stunning fashion right out the gate would be a huge accomplishment.

Payne looks to build on the 25 wins from last season, which is the highest total since the 26-9 record put up in 1995-96 by CU legend Ceal Barry.
