The Colorado Buffaloes went from being considered one of the worst teams with a bad roster by some national outlets to an overnight success story. All thanks to the Hall-of-Famer Deion Sanders and his staff.

Colorado may not crack the top 25 in today's AP poll, but they will receive some votes. One of those saying he's witnessed an amazing ride is BuffZone writer Brian Howell.

If CU's 45-42 win over 17th-ranked TCU persuaded other AP voters like Howell, the Buffs would be ranked for the first time since the final rankings of the 2016 season. They lost to Oklahoma State in the Alamo Bowl that year and moved down to 17th.

Colorado hasn't been ranked this early in a season since Aug. 31, 2002 when they started 24th. CU hosts Nebraska for the FOX Big Noon Saturday special this Saturday. The Buffs currently hold a two-game winning streak in the series going back to 2018 and are currently 2.5-point favorites.
