Winston Watkins Jr. says "I don't know if Prime will still be there" after decommiting from Colorado

One of the top wide receivers in 2025 wants to keep his options open
In this story:

Despite Coach Prime saying he was absolutely not looking for a new job, his top 2025 commit has decided to re-open his recruitment.

This isn’t a complete surprise. This player is still a junior in high school. He had previously de-committed from Texas A&M after announcing he was headed to the Aggies as a freshman.

What is somewhat surprising, and a possible cause for alarm, is what Winston Watkins Jr. told Rivals.

”I have a lot of schools, I want to make sure I’m still good with them because I don’t know if Prime will still be there when I get there."

Coach Prime will speak to the media on Tuesday and is expected to reiterate that he has no interest in leaving Colorado for Texas A&M, Mississippi State, or any of the inevitable upcoming openings that fans and media will speculate on his level of interest.

As for Watkins, his focus shifts to helping First Baptist Academy win a state championship. They host Evangelical Christian on Friday night in a regional semifinal matchup.
