Until Monday morning, the 2022-23 Duke basketball team's top two scorers had yet to reveal their plans. But there's now only one complete Blue Devil mystery: Kyle Filipowski, who sure appears to enjoy teasing the fanbase.

At 10:43 a.m. ET, junior point guard Jeremy Roach announced he's declaring for the NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility (he still has two seasons of eligibility remaining).

The 21-year-old captain has until May 31 to withdraw his name and return to Duke. Considering Roach's name rarely appears anywhere on mock drafts, one would think there's a strong chance he'll return in the end. Still, he could go overseas, play in the G League, or perhaps even enter the transfer portal. We'll have to wait and see.

As for Filipowski, 30 minutes after Roach's tweet, he tweeted the following tease, joking that he missed his chance again to make an announcement:

So will the reigning ACC Rookie of the Year finally broadcast his decision at some point on Tuesday? Well, the above tweet suggests he will. However, given the 19-year-old's appetite for tormenting folks in recent weeks, there's no guarantee when the day will come.

One week ago, two days after April Fools' Day and with seemingly all Blue Devil eyes locked on his Twitter account, Filipowski tweeted this undecipherable doozy:

On top of that, a few of his comments on other decisions from Duke basketball players on social media since the season ended could be viewed as cryptic.

Despite Kyle Filipowski's playful embrace of his unpredictability, the prediction here at Blue Devil Country remains that he will be back for a sophomore campaign. If that's the case, one could argue that he will be the most accomplished Duke basketball talent to return for another year in over a decade.

And his return could equate to the Blue Devils being the preseason No. 1 squad in the country.

As things stand, head coach Jon Scheyer, entering his second year at the helm, looks set to return sophomore-to-be point guard Tyrese Proctor, sophomore small forward Mark Mitchell, sophomore shooting guard Jaden Schutt, sophomore center Christian Reeves, junior point guard Jaylen Blakes, and graduate center Ryan Young.

Again, that list could also include Jeremy Roach and Kyle Filipowski. On the other hand, it's conceivable that one or more of the above names β€” not Proctor, Mitchell, or Young β€” might still decide to transfer, depending on how things shake out with the final decisions from Roach and Filipowski.

Scheyer will also welcome another heralded recruiting class. It consists of five five-star prospects: point guard Caleb Foster, combo guard Jared McCain, small forward Mackenzie Mgbako, power forward Sean Stewart, and stretch-four forward TJ Power.

Furthermore, it seems the Duke basketball coaches are seriously eyeing at least one player in the transfer portal. That also probably depends on what Roach and Filipowski ultimately decide to do.

In other words, there are still a handful of unknowns when projecting the 2023-24 Duke basketball roster.

Maybe Filipowski will make things much less complicated on Tuesday.
