Duke Basketball Flex: Cooper Flagg Pledges Allegiance to Blue Devils
Cooper Flagg, who is a lifelong Duke basketball enthusiast and ranks No. 1 in the 2024 class since reclassifying from 2025 a few months ago, has committed to play for Jon Scheyer and the Blue Devils next year.
The 6-foot-9, 200-pound phenom has held an offer from Scheyer and his gang since May 2022. Ever since, he's remained at the top of the Blue Devils' recruiting wishlist while garnering loads of attention nationally and, specifically, from his future Duke basketball fanbase.
After checking out UConn on an official visit in September, Flagg made his second trip to Duke on Oct. 20, this time for an official visit. He and two other 2024 Blue Devil targets, five-star guard VJ Edgecombe and five-star center Patrick Ngongba II, attended the program's Countdown to Craziness.
Flagg announced his commitment to Duke via SLAM with the following special cover posted to social media on Monday morning:
Flagg is the highest-rated Duke basketball recruiting prize (a perfect composite rating) since RJ Barrett in 2018. They are the only two Blue Devils to have ever received that rating.
Presumably, Cooper Flagg will put the finishing touch on his longtime dream by putting his commitment in ink during the early signing period, Nov. 8-15.
Scheyer, the official "capturer of the Flagg" to give Duke four pledges among current high school seniors, now boasts the No. 1 recruiting class in the 2024 cycle. He and his cohorts finished with the No. 1 class in 2022 and No. 2 in 2023.
