WATCH: Duke Basketball Signee Cooper Flagg Throws Ridiculous Pass
Cooper Flagg has a flair for pulling off improbable feats on both ends of the floor, whether in transition or a halfcourt setting. The Duke basketball recruiting prize, who ranks No. 1 overall on the 247Sports 2024 Composite and soars for top-ranked prep powerhouse Montverde Academy (Fla.), produces highlights galore every time he plays.
In Montverde's latest outing, an 88-53 road victory over Wasatch Academy (Utah) on Monday night, the 6-foot-9, 200-pound right-handed forward displayed his guard skills as he somehow threaded a left-handed bounce pass through two defenders to find his teammate for a fastbreak dunk.
Yes, the assist brings to mind former Duke basketball floor general Tre Jones:
But few Blue Devils the size of Flagg over the years have demonstrated such facilitating brilliance.
He's long-limbed and strong enough to thrive down low. He's sufficiently quick, smooth, and talented to shine on the perimeter.
His future head coach, Jon Scheyer, put it best in introducing Cooper Flagg to the fanbase days after the 16-year-old put his commitment in ink during this month's early signing period: "Whatever you need him to do, he can. He's a special player. He's a special talent."
Flagg is the headliner, of course, in Scheyer's top-ranked 2024 haul. However, all five early signees rank among the top 60 in the country.
The others are Paul VI Catholic (Va.) five-star center Patrick Ngongba II and four-star wing Darren Harris, North Meck (N.C.) five-star forward Isaiah Evans, and Wisconsin Lutheran Kon Knueppel.
