Duke Basketball Gets Leapfrogged by Blueblood in Class Ranking

The Duke basketball coaches are a commitment away from claiming the top spot in the 2024 arena.

Duke basketball's 2024 recruiting haul, consisting of three small forwards in five-star Kon Knueppel, five-star Isaiah Evans, and four-star Darren Harris, now sits at No. 4 on the 247Sports 2024 Class Ranking.

That's down one notch in light of fellow blueblood Kansas landing its latest prize, four-star shooting guard Rakease Passmore, on Wednesday evening. The Jayhawks' three-deep collection replaced the Blue Devils at No. 3, trailing No. 1 Missouri and No. 2 UNC.

However, it's worth noting that Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff could overtake the No. 1 position with a commitment from any of their remaining handful of heralded targets.

Those targets include the consensus No. 1 prospect in five-star small forward and lifelong Duke basketball fan Cooper Flagg. That's not to mention the No. 2 prospect in five-star combo guard Dylan Harper.

Then there are five-star center Patrick Ngongba II and five-star shooting guard VJ Edgecombe, who will join Flagg as official visitors in Durham next weekend.

Chances are Scheyer, who has compiled top-two classes across his first two cycles as head coach, reels in at least one or two of the above names.

And it's not as though the 2024 Duke basketball class is anything less than impressive as it is. After all, even factoring in Kansas' addition of Passmore, On3's ranking has the Blue Devils at No. 1 on the 2024 trail, above the Tar Heels and Jayhawks.
