Duke Basketball: Top North Carolina Recruit Visiting Blue Devils
Duke basketball head coach Jon Scheyer and his staff haven't reeled in a commitment on the recruiting trail since Paul VI Catholic (Va.) four-star small forward Darren Harris pledged allegiance to the Blue Devils in October.
While it may be a long shot for the coaches to end that drought this weekend, it shouldn't be a complete surprise if they do. Commitment or not, there's now an opportunity to make another giant stride in their pursuit of North Meck (N.C.) junior Isaiah Evans.
On Thursday afternoon, 247Sports' Travis Branham reported that Evans begins an official visit to Duke on Friday.
And it's worth noting that the 6-foot-7, 170-pound five-star small forward has already been on the campus in Durham. He attended the Blue Devils' home win over Ohio State in late November, sitting behind the Duke basketball bench, and enthusiastically joined the Cameron Crazies on the other side of the court late in the game.
At No. 10 overall among his 2024 peers in the eyes of 247Sports, Isaiah Evans is the highest-ranked North Carolina prep in the class. His slender frame and smooth moves have drawn comparisons to former Duke basketball one-and-done and current New Orleans Pelicans star Brandon Ingram, also a North Carolina native.

Six weeks ago, the prolific scorer dropped 62 points in a playoff game. A few days later, he received his offer from the Blue Devils.
Evans, who holds more than two dozen offers, appears to be one of only three 2024 prospects at the center of Duke's radar. The other two are Don Bosco Prep (N.J.) five-star combo guard Dylan Harper and St. Thomas More School (Conn.) four-star small forward Tyler Betsey.

Meanwhile, Harris remains the Blue Devils' only 2024 commit.
